Tips To Apply For A Scholarship In Malaysia

3 years back, when I accomplished my Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia(SPM) examination, I was looking forward to find a scholarship for myself. After the SPM’s result being announced, luckily I got an excellent result in which made me eligible to apply for any types of scholarship.

I look through the newspaper, there were a lot of offer on scholarships from government and private sectors. I cut down all the advertisements and put it into a file. Therefore, I won’t missed out anything that important to myself.

So, I filled in the forms from Yayasan Telekom Malaysia(YTM), Petronas, Mara and Securities Commission. After a week of application, I got a call from Securities Commission(SC) to attend their interview session. I was very excited, and went to SC in hoping that I’ll get their scholarship. Unlucky, I was rejected since there were more people that better than me.

After that, I received a letter from Petronas for their interview session. The interview took place at Universiti Teknologi Petronas(UTP) for 3 days. This time the luck was beside me, I was accepted by Petronas to be under their scholarship program.

Within 3 days after Petronas camp, I went for Yayasan Telekom Malaysia(YTM) interview camp. The camp was held for 4 days at University Malaya. Seriously, this interview session was not really hard compare to Petronas. They are really looking forward on our interpersonal skills and attitude. At that time, your result was nothing and you have to show your ability by mixing with other people. I think this interview module that created by YTM want us to get ready for the real world.

Then, I went to Mara interview to get an oversea scholarship. I was applying for chemical engineering in which I don’t have any interest with. Frankly, I was really into in business and don’t like engineering jargon so much. The reason I apply for Mara was want to know whether myself was competent for an oversea scholarship or not. Guess? …. I was accepted!

Since I got 3 offers from different sectors, I was accepting the offer from YTM because I want to pursue my study in e-commerce. Here are some tips to make yourselves qualify for a pell grant.

  • Don’t throw yourselves to apply the courses in which don’t meet their requirements.
  • A beggar can’t be a chooser. Apply all the offers to increase the probability of being funded by any sectors.
  • Do practice yourselves in interpersonal skills, talk much!
  • Take a look at Scholarships.com for any better offers.
  • The most important thing is, your attire must be smart and neat. Spend some money on formal suit such as tie, belt, trousers and leather shoes.
